HOW to INITIALISE & FORMAT a NEW Hard Disk Drive

Click on the Start Button (ORB) and select CONTROL PANEL

Make certain you have LARGE ICONS selected (top right)

Click on ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS

Double Click on COMPYTER MANAGEMENT

Click on DISK MANAGEMENT

A Dialog box will appear - Click on OK to initialise the disk

The hard drive will be UNALLOCATED as above - Right click on the UNALLOCATED section and select NEW SIMPLE VOLUME

Click on NEXT & NEXT until you see the below Dialog Box

You can name the drive here and then just click on NEXT

Click on FINISH to format the disk

The disk will begin to format

The disk is now formatted.

If you check COMPUTER - the drive will now appear and be usable.
